CWMC : the Coolest Workshop in Marketing Communication

Part 1: Introduction
Maaf untuk mengganti kata "Certified" menjadi "Coolest", karena memang itu lah yang menurut saya tepat menjadi nama workshop ini setelah saya mengikutinya selama 2 bulan.
CWMC bukanlah workshop yang berhenti pada sekedar memberi sertifikat pada pesertanya, tapi juga memberikan ruang belajar yang "dingin" bagi siapa pun yang memutuskan untuk mengorbankan hari sabtunya demi mengasah pengetahuan mereka.

anehnya, di dalam ruangan yang dingin itu, saya justru menemukan kehangatan yang datang dari semua peserta maupun pengajar.

Dengan kehangatannya, Pak Iwan (CEO Srengenge), Bu Amalia (MD EURO RSCG Adwork), Mas Heri Ardin (Strategic Media Dentsu strat), Ms. Angelie (MD Dentsu Singapore), Mas Adit (Alive Indonesia), Bu Vitrie (Dirut PT. Tecma Mitratama), Mas Arif Budiman (CEO Petakumpet) dan Mas Janoe Arijanto (Strategic Planner Dentsu strat), mencoba mencairkan kembali otak kami yang beku oleh dinginnya sistem pendidikan pemerintahan Soeharto.

Cuaca yang berubah dingin menjadi panas menjadi dingin kembali yang dikombinasikan dengan makanan enak serta melimpah membuat tubuh saya bereaksi aneh. Saya jadi bolak-balik kamar kecil. untungnya hal tersebut membantu memungkinkan saya untuk kembali menikmati makanan enak serta melimpah sehingga tidaklah mengapa.

Part 2 : the team, the works & teamwork

saya, taufik, febe, ifa, aul, yani, mira, chinta dan pak eko (bukan paket ekonomis) tergabung dalam tim dua. kami menamainya dengan nama "Two Thumbs Up" dan meminjam slogan campaign lawas perusahaan rental mobil "Since we are number two, we try harder", kami mencoba menjalani workshop dengan lebih "keras"an.

kami adalah tim paling kreatif serta berani. kami berani mengklaim tim kami lah yang paling kreatif secara kreatif. kami memulai presentasi dengan "tari dua jempol" secara atraktif. kami memenangkan pertemuan ke-lima yang membahas tema "Kreatif".

Kami agresif. terutama saat bau makan siang yang menyusup ruangan membuat kelas tak lagi kondusif.

Part 3 : The Final Project
terjebak dalam keragaman budaya serta agama, kami memilih untuk mengakhiri tiap sesi bukan dengan do'a namun justru dengan foto bersama. semua peserta nampak bahagia.

tapi di pertemuan terakhir nampaknya kami kurang bahagia, tiba-tiba kami semua yang menjadi peserta mempunyai satu masalah yang sama : "Tingginya Awareness Brand Fruittea tidak diikuti oleh Sales yang cukup baik". kami pun mulai lebih banyak berdo'a, "semoga dalam waktu dekat penjualan Fruittea meningkat pesat, sehingga kami tak perlu lagi membuat plan yang memeras otak dan keringat".

kita memang tak pernah tahu kapan do'a akan terkabul.
jadilah selama dua minggu kami melakukan riset, brainstorming, mengeksekusi, mengevaluasi, mengulang brainstorming lagi dan merombak kembali ide dan eksekusi.

singkat cerita (percayalah bahwa memang panjang ceritanya), akhirnya kami menemukan sebuah formula.kami menemukan sebuah solusi marketing yang terintegerasi dengan solusi komunikasi. semuanya demi fruittea.

ide nya rahasia. saya belum bisa cerita. yang jelas, seketika itu pula kami berubah menjadi anak-anak sma. yang jelas, kami yakin apa yang sudah kami buat ini, meminjam istilah seorang Djito Kasilo, didasari oleh cinta. dan benar adanya, mereka yang duduk sebagai juri pun suka!

Part 4 : How it ends
Gegap gempita yang khidmat. Awarding Day kala itu dikemas dengan sangat apik. tema "Pejuang" menggambarkan dengan baik bagaimana usaha semua peserta untuk melakukan yang terbaik. kami terhibur, kami tegang, baru sejenak kami khidmat menyanyikan indonesia raya, sejenak kemudian keriuhan para pemenang tim maupun student menguasai suasana.

salah satu keriuhan itu datang dari tim kami. ya, "two thumbs up" membuktikan bagaimana "keras"annya kami dalam mengikuti workshop ini. kerja tim kami diganjar dengan Juara 2. dan sebagai bonusnya, saya pun juga meraih best graduate dari program workshop ini!

Kami sungguh banyak belajar. kami sungguh bersenang-senang.

Setelah riuh ruang senang usai, tinggal lah saya sendiri dengan secuil mimpi yang mulai terbuka seruas besi pagarnya. sebuah kesempatan magang di multinational agency (Dentsu strat) menunggu saya akhir Juni nanti.
seperti kata orang, sebuah akhir selalu membawa kita pada sebuah permulaan baru. apa pun itu, semoga permulaan yang menyenangkan.

Sebuah cerita tentang pembuatan cerita

jadi begini ceritanya.. suatu hari, saat sedang bingung menelaah brief sebuah kompetisi (BG award 09), saya dan rekan saya (Tegar) akhirnya menyerah dan memutuskan lebih mudah menelaah panduan memasak di belakang bungkus Indomie. 5 menit kemudian kami pun berhenti menelaah, kami sibuk menelan dan mengunyah.

di sela-sela kegiatan menelan, mata saya tertahan. pada sebuah benda yang lama tertumpuk di rak meja kamar saya namun seolah saya baru sadar akan eksistensinya.

sebuah buku cerita. atau kumpulan dongeng lebih tepatnya.

mulai dari itik buruk rupa, kerudung merah, bahkan si cantik dan buruk rupa pun ada di sana. rasanya saya seperti kembali ke masa kanak-kanak entah kapan itu tepatnya saya lupa. yang saya ingat, harga Indomie saat itu cuma 300 perak.

saya pun merenung.
apakah pemerintahan orde baru memang berjasa pada murahnya harga indomie kala itu? apakah setiap anak tumbuh besar dengan cerita-cerita dongeng? apakah mitos "satu kurang, dua kebanyakan" berlaku universal pada perilaku makan mie instant?
perenungan kami kala itu berbuah ide.

idea on ads : School's project "Kopi Banaran" TVC

ok. first thing you have to know is.. i do reallize that this coffee-pocong idea is no longer original. yes i do admire those Kopi Blandongan ads made by Srengenge. i just wondering, what would it be if i try to put this connection of coffee and pocong into a 30 second TVC. and.. i simply love it!! we choose "Kopi Banaran" as a product because our lecturer told us so. and yes, this is just a class's project, by the way.

this is one of my school's project that i like.
the brief is to make an Ad that communicate how terrible the environment of Fisip Undip and to make people start act wisely in throwing trash. so... i made a series of ad.

The Copy says :
"banyak sampah (kotoran, kresek, plastik) disekitar kita. namun serinigkali kita tidak menyadarinya."
"buang sampah pada tempatnya, buat lingkunganmu sebagaimana mestinya."

a simple copy based ad. using the name that commonly we (fisip people) hear : fisip, komunikasi and administrasi publik. the ads show that we actually live among those kind of environtment (shitty one). and by replacing the shit, kresek or plastik, we could make it back to our real and clean environment.

this is the first entry for me and Playon in Baskara Level of Pinasthika. the campaign made for basketball competition "Jump the limit". the idea is we want to make a poster campaign that interact uniquely with the audience. so... we made them Jump their limit by putting an AC and fan control a little bit higher than usual.
and yes.. we won a bronze award for this campaign!!! yeaah!!

the white colored text says some statement in a negative tone of desperate thinking about the present environtment.
but if you read the whole text including The 80% Black colored text, you'll get the possitive thingking about our future environtment.

the idea is.. the non caramel biscuit chocolate is easier to eat and there will be no caramel that stick on your teeth or mouth that help you say your "Crush feeling" to people.
hmm... i dont know.. maybe it's such a lame idea but.. still.. i'm a person who fall in love with my own idea. hehehe...

In Jogja, not only the local agency that struggle in this creative bussiness. the students are incridibly awesome too! some University held an annual creative competition. UPN Jogja with "Communication Freak" is one of them.and i would never missed the chance to compete with them.
That year Theme is: "Iklan dalam budaya, berbudaya dalam iklan"
The Challange is to make a PrintAd that show how the diversity of our culture should be an advantage for us to communicate. (The Brief is quite confussing at the first time, but..)

it is not hard to find a creative competition. there's a bunh of it in this country only. and this one is came from Universitas Indonesia, creADtive. and this is one of Playon creative team works.

the brief is asked us to tell people to be confident and show their self or skill or something like that..
so we made this interactive print that will show you the message after you pull out the "man" who hide behind the curtain.

i simply fall in love in creative industry. and pinasthika adfest is the first award show in creative advertising that draged me into this world. here is some works i've done for students entry in 2008.

this is one of my first entries in that award show. the brief is asked you to show people that we need to free our mind and do more effort if we want to get success. the ad idea is to visualize the people who can't win if they don't free their mind (the one using glove) in a traditional game named "Pingsut".

kura-kura bisa terbang

Kenapa "kura-kura bisa terbang"?

Sebenernya sih terinspirasi dari judul filmnya Bahman Ghobadi "Turtles can fly" yang bercerita tentang kehidupan anak-anak di medan perang.

Terlepas dari isi film ini, saya justru melihatnya dari sisi lain. Bagi saya "kura-kura bisa terbang" adalah semacam statement yang meyakinkan saya untuk melakukan sesuatu yang lebih meski dengan semua keterbatasan yang ada.
Dan akhirnya kata kata "kura-kura bisa terbang" sendiri bisa menjadi semacam stimuli yang menciptakan kata-kata baru seperti: saya bisa nulis.

(or something bigger like "I can eat a giant meatball in a second or two without chew on it. yeah.. that's ain't bigger, dude.")
